Paper Introduction:
Direct marketing is not a new approach to marketing as such. However, it is an approach that has received new emphasis in an era where mass-marketing is becoming both too expensive and too difficult to accomplish, while the ability to market one-to-one has increased with new media and with the growth of the science of demographics. One of the new types of direct marketing is known as database marketing. This utilizes computers to identify characteristics in the population and to target specific groups and individuals who would be more likely to be interested in the message to be conveyed by direct marketing or some other means of reaching the consumer. Direct Response Marketing refines the issue even further and extends direct marketing into new and non-traditional media such as the use of television and radio, infomercials, the telephone, the computer, and other means.
